Silk Offering Great New Thai Food to Pinoys
As I entered the chic restaurant, I found the place good for family meal or just having lunch with friends.
Warmly welcomed by the host, my colleague and I is seated at a comfortable corner of the resto. Then come in the food started off with Tom Yum Talay, a traditional Thai soup. It is a sour-spicy seafood soup with hints of galangal, lemongrass and coriander.
Since I am a seafood enthusiast, I tried their Seafood Satay which are marinated skewers of Prawn, Squid and Snapper fillets that come with a delightful dipping sauce of palm vinegar and various condiments, and I could say this is soooo yummy! And the famous Pomelo and Shrimp Salad, this will surely transport you to the streets and markets of Thailand.
Of course, having a Thai meal not be complete without a taste of curry. For those who do not like spicy food like me, the Green Chicken Curry is perfect, although all dishes my be adjusted to your personal spice level preference. The Roast Duck in Red Curry and the tender, stewed for hours Beef Shank in Mussaman Curry are a must try when you dine in Silk.
For the main course, Silk serves an extensive set of dishes that offer lots of chicken, beef, seafood, and vegetables. Crab lovers will surely love the Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Black Pepper Sauce. For the sweet and sour enthusiasts, there is the Thai Style Sweet and Sour Lapu Lapu to feast on.
Wondering about Thailandʼs most popular of noodles and rice dishes? Silkʼs Phad Thai and Bagoong Rice are one of the best in the metro.
For sweet lovers, there are the Mango Sticky Rice or the housemade ice creams of Durian, Coconut and Mango. You will really love these cause we are not stranger to these fruits, right?
Last but not least, Silk has a pleasant wine selection that pairs well with the flavors of Thai Food, a full bar service and an extensive list of cocktails which include Pandan Martinis, Lemongrass Martinis, and Silkʼs own Ginger Zinger.
By the way, Silk has Happy Hour from 6pm-8pm everyday, so enjoy their wide wine selections!

Pantene and World Vision's Healthy Drinking Water
The campaign will support the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program, a long-term global advocacy program that focuses on reducing sickness and death that result from water-borne illnesses caused by drinking contaminated water.
This year, Pantene with P&G’s CSDW program will provide water purification packets in the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.Pantene gives Filipinos a chance to donate 1 day of clean drinking water through online pledges at the Pantene facebook page (www.facebook.com/PantenePhilippines).
Dr. Greg Allgood, Director of the P&G CSDW Program is excited to have Pantene strengthen the campaign in the Philippines - “P&G through partial support from the Pantene Healthy Hair for Healthy Water program will provide more than 17 million days of clean drinking water during the next year through this program – that’s 34 million liters of clean water for more than 25,000 of the most vulnerable people living in remote areas with only contaminated water sources” says Dr. Allgood after a recent visit to Siargo.
P&G’s External Relations Leader, Clint Navales echoes Dr. Allgood’s sentiments as he gives more details about the campaign - “Our goal is to be able to get 10,000,000 pledges all over Asia so we would like to invite Filipinos to support our campaign by visiting the Pantene Facebook page and giving their pledge. We’ve seen through recent calamities how difficult it is to have access to something as basic as clean drinking water, and also how important clean water is to prevent disease in these situations. With the Pantene Healthy Hair Healthy Water campaign, you now not only get healthy hair, but you help give a child good health through clean drinking water”.
The P&G CSDW Program was launched in 2004 using a powdered water-purificationtechnology developed in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control andPrevention. One small packet quickly turns 10 liters of dirty, potentially deadly water intoclean, drinkable water.
The P&G CSDW Program works with more than 120 partnersglobally to respond to the greatest needs for clean water. Clean drinking water has beenprovided in over 65 developing countries.
In the Philippines, P&G’s CSDW was able to donate clean water to communities hit by Sendong. Done in partnership with World Vision, P&G was able to distribute 600,000 water purification packets to Sendong survivors, including more than 500 families in Mandulog and nearby communities, which was one of the areas hardest hit by the typhoon in Iligan.
