So, what’s to be excited about the TIMEX Run 2012?

Divided into three race categories, athletes, race fanatics, and casual runners can choose from the 5, 10 or 16 kilometer event. The race is organized by no less than the in-demand team of Runrio who assures participants of accuracy in timing and a host of other innovative features and acitivities. One of which is the disposable “champion” chips, timing devices attached to shoe laces specially designed to let runners monitor their starting in finishing times with stern accuracy. Functioning only soon as the runner steps on the designated ground matting, the recorded time is sure to be precise. Another is the Runpix analysis which is a record of interesting running statistics unique to each individual who ran. This will be available after the race at www.runrio.com and www.timexrunning.com.

If you’re up for the action and ready for truckloads of fun, well you still have a chance to join as regular registration has been extended until January 18, 2012. Pantene and World Vision's Healthy Drinking Water

Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines’ leading hair care brand Pantene joins the cause to give children safe drinking water with the launch of its “Healthy Hair for Healthy Water” Campaign.

The campaign will support the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program, a long-term global advocacy program that focuses on reducing sickness and death that result from water-borne illnesses caused by drinking contaminated water.

This year, Pantene with P&G’s CSDW program will provide water purification packets in the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.Pantene gives Filipinos a chance to donate 1 day of clean drinking water through online pledges at the Pantene facebook page (www.facebook.com/PantenePhilippines).

Dr. Greg Allgood, Director of the P&G CSDW Program is excited to have Pantene strengthen the campaign in the Philippines - P&G through partial support from the Pantene Healthy Hair for Healthy Water program will provide more than 17 million days of clean drinking water during the next year through this program – that’s 34 million liters of clean water for more than 25,000 of the most vulnerable people living in remote areas with only contaminated water sources” says Dr. Allgood after a recent visit to Siargo.

P&G’s External Relations Leader, Clint Navales echoes Dr. Allgood’s sentiments as he gives more details about the campaign - “Our goal is to be able to get 10,000,000 pledges all over Asia so we would like to invite Filipinos to support our campaign by visiting the Pantene Facebook page and giving their pledge. We’ve seen through recent calamities how difficult it is to have access to something as basic as clean drinking water, and also how important clean water is to prevent disease in these situations. With the Pantene Healthy Hair Healthy Water campaign, you now not only get healthy hair, but you help give a child good health through clean drinking water”.

The P&G CSDW Program was launched in 2004 using a powdered water-purificationtechnology developed in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control andPrevention. One small packet quickly turns 10 liters of dirty, potentially deadly water intoclean, drinkable water.

The P&G CSDW Program works with more than 120 partnersglobally to respond to the greatest needs for clean water. Clean drinking water has beenprovided in over 65 developing countries.

In the Philippines, P&G’s CSDW was able to donate clean water to communities hit by Sendong. Done in partnership with World Vision, P&G was able to distribute 600,000 water purification packets to Sendong survivors, including more than 500 families in Mandulog and nearby communities, which was one of the areas hardest hit by the typhoon in Iligan.

Through the Pantene Healthy Hair for Healthy Water program, P&G hopes to further the campaign to touch more lives and improve life for the people who need it the most. “I’m very grateful to P&G and World Vision Philippines for the work they’re doing to reach the most vulnerable people in very remote places where clean drinking water will make a big difference in improving and likely saving lives.Dr. Allgood emphasizes.

To show our support just give your pledge, no need to buy anything.

PLDT myDSL latest treat for the Filipino Family

"Mommy Knows Best", we all know that and like any other mother, I always make sure that I give the best that I can for my family. Be it in serving the meals, buying stuff for the home and for every member of the family, etc. That includes the support that I can give particularly with regard to the children's education. I learned that there is another thing that I need to get for my family.... that is the newest PLDT myDSL connection for our home and I believe for every home.

More and more families live in digital homes that need a fast, reliable, wired Internet connection for simultaneous use on multiple gadgets. It may sound like a tall order for most broadband services in the country, but PLDT myDSL has come up with a plan to help get the strongest DSL connection at home, with speeds as high as 10MBPS at only P4,000 a month. Of course, there are plans convenient for any budget as well, starting at the affordable monthly rate of P990.

This is just the latest plan the nation’s most preferred broadband is offering to help make broadband easier to share among everyone in the family. Tried and tested, myDSL has more reliable connections thanks to the continuous upgrades of its lines, most notably the ongoing switch from traditional copper lines to the PLDT Next Generation Network, which is being done without additional costs on the part of subscribers.

Going hand-in-hand with these improvements is an upgrade on PLDT myDSL’s customer services and a regularly updated website for news, product announcements, and promotions.

All myDSL subscriptions are part of PLDT’s Triple Play package, which includes unlimited myDSL, a landline, and PLDT online entertainment portal Watchpad, which gives you access to 17 channels and exclusive content, as well as the coming Pacquiao Vs. Marquez fight, live with no commercial breaks if you’re on plan 1995 and up and registered to Watchpad. Not yet on Watchpad, register now. And if you’re a non 1995 and up subscriber, you can still watch the fight for free if you subscribe to Watchpad Big Ticket from now until Nov. 10.

Sharp's Commitment For Our Future

This coming 2012, Sharp Corporation celebrates 100 years of innovation worldwide while its local subsidiary, Sharp (Phils.) Corporation, marks its 30th year. Despite the passage of time, there are no signs of the Sharp brand ever slowing down. From introducing unique products that have improved lives all over the world to technology envisioned for our future, Sharp makes good on its commitment of creating a better life for all.

With Sharp, going green is not just an empty claim. It has been at the forefront of developing solar technology long before global warming become a major issue for environmentalists. And though the Philippines might be a long way from fully adapting this kind of technology at present, it hasn’t stopped the company from exploring opportunities for solar power locally.

Sharp’s poly-crystalline silicon (PSC) solar panels are now in use at a Cepalco operated farm in Cagayan, the first solar farm in the country. The PSC panels and the newer thin-film panels are widely utilized in other parts of the world for navigational systems, satellites, skyscrapers, and other commercial applications. Photovoltaic technology will no doubt be even more popular as the company continues on its quest to make its solar panels more efficient and more accessible.

Closer to home, Sharp’s wide range of consumer products also do their share in conserving the environment. Technology in the home has truly gone a long way with Sharp. Appliances are incorporated with Plasmacluster Ion Technology that suppresses harmful airborne elements to promote a clean indoor environment. These are found in Sharp air purifiers, ion generators, air-conditioners and refrigerators.

And while Sharp’s new UV2A technology in its Quattron LCD TV also does its part in creating a more power efficient TV, the fact that it is the first in the industry to have the proprietary RGB+Y (red, green, blue + yellow) technology means it can easily handle advanced picture quality and maximum color precision that only Sharp can provide.

Times have surely changed much in the past 100 years, but Sharp’s approach of developing products to fit our lifestyle and to benefit our future and those of the coming generations will always remain timeless.
