Rexona Run 2012 Surpass Yourself

Get ready to outrun yourself at the Rexona Run 2012 happening on August 12 at the SM Mall of Asia grounds.  A part of the Runrio Series, this year’s edition is bigger, with a new category, more prizes and exciting features that will bring running to a higher level.

Registration is ongoing until July 29 at Riovana stores in Bonifacio Global City and Katipunan, and Toby’s branches in Trinoma and SM Mall of Asia.  Online registrations are also accepted at www.runrio.com from now until 12 midnight of July 22.

Runners can choose to take part in the 5K, 21K Solo or, for the first time ever, the 21K Relay race category.  The top 3 finishers in the 21K Solo take home Php 7,000, 5,500, and 4,000; while Php 5,000, 4,000, and 3,000 will be awarded to each member of the top finishers in the 21K Relay division.  Finally, the top three finishers in the 5K category bring home Php 4,000 for first, 3,000 for second and 2,000 for third.

Adding excitement to the event is Rexona’s challenge for runners to beat the “industry standard,” wherein commemorative key chains will be given to finishers who end the race on or before the recommended finishing time.  To qualify, 5K runners must cross the finish line on or before 6:20am, 30 minutes from gun start and all 21K runners need to finish on or before 7:00am, 2 hours after gun start.

To ensure that each participant keeps within their target finishing time, pacers shall be deployed for each race category.

To help runners train and commit to a faster finishing time, Rexona Run 2012 has created the Rexona Run Outrun Yourself App, which can be downloaded for free via the Rexona Men Facebook page.  The app helps runners set a target time for the category to be run courtesy of a running playlist and an occasional voice over as their time check, which they can listen to while training.  During the actual run, the app can also be used to help runners set their pace.

Rexona will also encourage participants to be responsible runners by keeping race routes trash-free by placing trash bins in strategic locations for proper disposal of water bottles, sponges and other trash.  This ensures a cleaner race route now and in succeeding editions of Rexona Run.

For more details, check out the Rexona Men Facebook page, visit www. runrio.com or call/text the race hotline at +63927-347-7700 (Globe), +63929-717-8164 (Smart) or +632-887-6194 .

FILA Runs for School Rooms

Education is indeed a right of every child. We’re all challenged to take part in solving our nation’s greater woes. Heeding to the call of the times, FILA and Athletes in Action (AIA) join forces to bring the biggest advocacy run to help raise funds for the rehabilitation of classrooms in Iligan city, which were badly hit by Typhoon Sendong back in 2011.

With 15,000 runners who have signed up to date, the Schools Run for School Rooms (SRSR) marathon will be gathering student-runners from major colleges and universities, to bring a glimmer of hope to Iligan city, where eager students have to do with makeshift classrooms as the school year starts.

Since 1911, FILA traces its roots from Biella, a province set at the foot of the Italian Alps. Unbeknownst to many, this small town brand is big on corporate social responsibility. At the recently concluded 2012 FILA Polo Cup, project “500 for 500” was launched by FILA President Butch Albert to help Typhoon Sendong victims once again by donating 500 pesos to 500 families for every purchase of Skele-Toes.

Skele-Toes is FILA’s latest line of revolutionary active footwear that is fast raising many eyebrows and causing the curious to utter #whattheheckisthat? For us at FILA, it’s simply a shoe that changes the game. Rock at the gym or at the party, Skele-Toes is just about the only shoe that fits – and Tim, Georgina, and Borgy all agree!

Not ready to rock the boat just yet? Then you’ll love FILA’s newest line of running shoes, Swerve and Flow. FILA Swerve boasts of a Dynamic Landing System through a lightweight foam at the midsole and V3 techonology inserts at the heel. This gives you the proper support that you need in every step, without compromising style and design.

FILA Flow is perfect for the outdoor dweller with its heavy duty outsole, making every shock and bump a breeze. This one will surely go with you to countless victories and finishes.

Whether you prefer a classic or a rocking pair of rubbershoes, it’s high time to give your tiresome trainers a break and take the Skele-Toes, Swerve, or Flow out for a spin. With your purchase of a pair of Skele-Toes and participation at the SRSR marathon, it’s definitely more fun to help with FILA!

Tickets and registration forms are available at SM Ticketnet outlets (https://www.smtickets.com/event/view/776).

Singlets and race bibs can be claimed at Fila Stores in Metro Manila.

Buy Generics at Watsons Pharmacy

We, Filipinos are very much concern of ourselves and our families. We wanted to have good and stable jobs  as well as having precious time for family members especially those who have kids.  On top of these things, we value our health because we need to spend more time with our loved ones and enjoy activities with friends. Thus, there are lots of medicines and supplements that are available in the market and yet few could say that they comply to regular health medications. It is a sad reality though that for most people, health management here in the Philippines is expensive. This leads to rampant self medication, non-compliance to treatment, and medical consultation only when symptoms of ailments are already unbearable.
Watsons Philippines answered this problem about prices of health medicines. Just recently, Watsons launches the Buy Generics and Save advocacy that will ensure consumers are educated to know the difference between trusted and questionable generics. Part of this campaign is making it easier for customers to look for the generic counterpart of their branded medications. Starting June, Watsons will bring together all its generic offers in a special, highly visible Buy Generics counter inside the pharmacy. The new health section will carry the Watsons Compliance Packs (for chronic and acute diseases), Watsons Health Packs (for common ailments like headache, stomach ace, allergy, etc) and a wide range of generic products only from trusted manufacturers like Unilab, Ritemed, Pharex and others. This will provide more options to customers on top of the branded products available.
In recent years, generic medicines which are priced cheaper than the leading brands have been presented as a solution to this concern. However, it is very much common that people are not yet comfortable in switching to generic drugs because of some bad reputation in the past related to questionable efficacy and poor quality. To overcome these challenges, Watsons exerted utmost effort to look for the right pharmaceutical partners and bring together quality generic medicines in the market. This is consistent with its mission of inspiring people to live beautifully and healthily and its aim to provide added value to its shoppers in managing their health.
The first step is educating the consumers about generic drugs. Can we really trust all generic products? Watsons narrowed down 3 simple criteria as a standard:

  1. Manufactured by a trusted pharmaceutical company
  1. FDA approved
  1. Sold by a reputable pharmacy retailer

Watsons only carries generic medicines that satisfy the stated criteria above.

Ipanema takes Go-Getters to the Urban Jungle

The world-renowned Brazilian flip-flop brand, IPANEMA took style animals to an unforgettable experience out in the wild when it transformed the Bonifacio High Street into a mystical urban jungle where IPANEMA’s sassy new collection was paraded.

The IPANEMA Urban Jungle Runway Show was a night of fun and true enchantment; a sheer moment to captivate the Metro’s style stars through fresh, animated pieces that capture that jovial spirit unique to the IPANEMA brand. True to the happy and exotic vibe of the beaches of Brazil the brand has been known for since it has established itself back in 1971, the IPANEMA designs featured a refreshingly distinct mix of bright colors adorning striking and bold prints as well as vibrant and unique design patterns.

The runway event witnessed the gathering of fiercest go-getters of the land. Popular celebrities and top models in the name of Enchong Dee, Phoemela Baranda, Ornussa Cadness, Mia Ayesa, Peter Norrdell, among others, graced the occasion and spiced up the night channeling their inner fashion animals. No other moment seemed more apt as the night was dedicated to unraveling the fabulous “fauna” of new IPANEMA flipflop styles through a numinous, story-telling fashion show featuring jungle creatures that embody the diverse tastes and characters of today’s stylistas.

What exactly unfolded during the roaring runway show? A jamboree of mystical animals which included the playful and graceful dolphin; the sleek and agile “Jacob” of the land: the wolf. Also making his regal presence felt was the king of the jungle, lion with its powerful and intimidating stance. Completing the fashion soiree was the vibrant and sophisticated peacock; the soaring eagle with its potent sexual energy; the meek and mild gazelle that represents those with laid back taste; the sexy and imperial snake; the eye-catching ostrich; the zebra which dons its uniqueness in every possible way; and the funny and quirky caterpillar, which transformed into a glamorous butterfly as its fellow animals strutted their way into the urban jungle, a place where there is boundless freedom to express one’s definitive flair and need for comfort. Indeed, it was a runway spectacle like no other.

The Urban Jungle Fashion Show is IPANEMA’s way of celebrating unique individuals who take on everyday determined to conquer the world and stand out. It’s a toast to go-getters who own their unique style and never compromise on getting what they truly desire.

IPANEMA has truly been a bastion for flipflops not only in Brazil, but around the globe as well. Its long history speaks not only of reliability and high quality performance and service, but of innovation, and continuous improvements in styles and designs as well.  These fab sandals pride themselves with the supreme ease and comfort they provide to every foot with soles that are sublimely soft and perfectly padded.

With this exciting event marking a new era in the brand’s history, we are invited to make our fashionable mark at the urban jungle and spoil our sole with IPANEMA.

PINOY HEROES AWARDED BY TOBLERONE

What makes a hero?

It was Superman legend, Christopher Reeve, who once said that a hero is any individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. Such is the 11 million Filipinos overseas, who have left home to work and bring honor, not just for family but also for the nation as a whole.

With this reason, Toblerone, the “thank you” chocolate is making it its mission to recognize the efforts of these modern day Filipino heroes through the Thank You Global Pinoy Awards Night.

“Inspired by the “pasalubong” homecoming tradition associated with Toblerone and in continuing its goal to revive the art of saying “thank you” among Filipinos, the brand is focusing its lens to the millions of Filipinos overseas who deserved to be thanked,” says Jaya Singh, Region Director, Middle East and Asia Pacific, Kraft Foods World Travel Retail.

The Thank You Global Pinoy Awards is an initiative that sought to search for the most outstanding global Filipino workers who deserve our gratitude. It is led by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas—the government agency tasked to promote and uphold the interests of Filipino emigrants and permanent residents abroad, and Toblerone as the key proponent of Thank You Day in 2007.

The “thank you” chocolate also provided other outlets to show our gratitude, including the Thank You Global Pinoy website, which served as an online venue for Filipinos to thank their nominated Global Pinoy; and also the Special Rewards Passport distributed in Duty Free and NAIA terminals in Paranaque that gave balikbayans perks and incentives to partner establishments like Krispy Kreme, Red Box, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Folded and Hung, David’s Salon, Wade, Jelly Bean, Abenson, Maribago Hotel and Spa, and Island Cove Hotel and Resorts.

“In its tradition of being the “thank you” and “pasalubong” chocolate of our overseas Filipinos, Toblerone has initiated this project in order to give back. We hope that in our own way, we can give these outstanding Global Pinoys the sweet “thank you” they deserve,” ends Singh.

Switch, Save & Splurge

In life, something’s always got to give. But not when we have good brand choices. Often times, to be able to satisfy our individual shopping cravings, we need to scrimp on a few things (without sacrificing quality, of course) in order to splurge on those that are at the top of our must-have list. Problem is, we are always left with something to sacrifice. Not when we are wise women though!

Good enough there is Watsons Your Personal Care Store that will help us out with this retail dilemma via a simple shopping strategy- switch and save! Watsons new Switch & Save campaign is the beginning of a shopping revolution. Its message is loud and clear: switch to Watsons Label and save so we can splurge on the things we love most. With a vast offering of in-house top-grade products that are significantly cheaper than their expensive branded counter-parts, and a trusted name synonymous to quality and affordability, Watsons buries all our shopping woes with this new solution.

Watsons Label products ensure that we can hoard and replenish our personal care essentials and beauty products at our convenience. What’s more, most of its products are imported and offer fantastic deal-- buy 1 take 1, discounted, bundled in threes-- ensuring we are getting the most bangs for our bucks.

At the forefront of the Watsons Switch & Save campaign are four of Manila’s brightest personalities who are themselves avid Watsons shoppers. Each multi-hyphenate knows how to live life to the fullest and truly understands the value of switching and saving.

The effervescent socialite-columnist-interior designer Tessa Prieto-Valdes leads the pack. She exclaims: “People ask me how I can afford to dress up fabulously all the time, like everyday is one big party. Simple. I have great and generous designer friends. And I also have good brand choices! I love Watsons Label because it takes care of my basic needs. I’m already saving there so I can really splurge on the things that I love most! It makes me look good, feel great, have fun!”

The divine model-entrepreneur-blogger Divine Lee follows suit. “Those day-to-day items that we use up quickly shouldn’t put a strain on our wallets. How can you say no to a Watsons Label product that’s imported and most of the time, on Buy 1 take 1? Such a divine deal! Winner!”

Host-teacher-blogger Patty Laurel shares, “Watsons has been my go-to store for all my health and beauty products, not only here in the Philippines but even in Hong Kong or wherever I travel. So when Watsons introduced their in-house products I tried it out. I was happy to find out that not only were they significantly cheaper, they proved to be of top-grade quality too. It was so easy for me to make the change! I’ve been switching and saving ever since. Now I buy Watsons Label facial tissues, hand wash, facial wipes, and even vitamins! Now I’m able to save more on my basic everyday needs, which means I can splurge a bit more on my travels and food! Woohoo!”

Rounding up the foursome of savvy shoppers is model-actor Victor Basa. “Everyone knows how guys shop. We go inside a store and get what we want. We don’t like thinking too much about a purchase. Now, what else can you ask from a label that marries quality and affordability? It’s a no brainer. You need a shaver that’s not too expensive but glides smoothly on your skin, get Watsons Label. You need a mouthwash that does the job, choose Watsons Label. Need something? Check if they have a Watsons Label counterpart and you can never go wrong. Easy.”

Thanks to switching and saving, Tessa can indulge in her designer clothes and shoes, Divine can satisfy her penchant for gorgeous handbags, Victor can stay true to his love of gadgets, and Patty can quell her wanderlust and travel the world.

These smart shoppers are on board with this shopping revolution.

I am a smart Watsons shopper, too!
